La Tabacalera

La Tabacalera in Madrid - a factory converted into a community art center. They offer classes, studio space, a cafe, outdoor space to relax, book exchanges, clothing donations and lots more! Metro Embajadores.

A Thanks to Rachel

One advantage of Rachel visiting me in Madrid (among many, such as an organized room...) is that I finally have photographs of me in Madrid (and Toledo). For the following photos, all props to Rachel or Kerry Perry!
Rachel and I at the lake in the Retiro Park.

Jose and I relaxing in Toledo.

Some Kerry Perry love at the Glass Palace in the Retiro Park.

She even got some of me photographing:

Touring with Ray: Part 1

Rachel and I spent a lot of today walking around Madrid, enjoying the city and the nice sunny (but chilly) weather.

In Spain, Santa climbs the balcony to get into the house. I can't, however, explain the frightening flamenco mannequin (...). Like I mentioned before, lots of quirky christmas lights:
The Cathedral:

The Palacio Real (as well as the closest Ray and I got to taking a photo together) and the Don Quixote statue in Plaza de Espana:
The details on the buildings of Madrid are really beautiful:

Las Luces de Navidad

The christmas lights in Madrid are beautiful!

They range from classic to quirky, and they're everywhere...

The Christmas tree at Sol (the center):
Although I can objectively admit the christmas decorations are better in Madrid, I still miss the holiday season in Boston! I hope everyone back home has a great christmas eve and christmas day :) Here in Madrid I'll be having a Christmas Eve dinner and then...
SANTA IS BRINGING RACHEL FOR CHRISTMAS!

El Retiro

Taken in El Parque del Retiro, one of my favorite places in Madrid. It's one of the first lomography photos I took - an accidental double exposure (I wasn't used to winding after each shot), but I like how it turned out. I'm really interested in the unpredictability of lomography, and the beautiful "mistakes" that can result from it.

Banco de España

Madrid has amazing architecture! I'm especially obsessed with the small details, like the top of the building Banco de España:

Dragons

Visiting Templo de Debod last June (2011), I came across a dragon:
The blurry focus isn't for everyone, but I like how
my Diana Mini captured movement in this photo!

Playing with Color Splash

Thanks to my technological skills (or lack thereof), I just discovered, after two years of owning a Mac, that I can buy applications for my computer (Rachel - why didn't you tell me earlier?). After accidentally clicking on the Application Store icon, I found the Color Splash Studio app and decided, for $2, to give it a try. It's a lot of fun! Here are some examples:

Two Worlds

On the left, the marshes of Plum Island in Newburyport, MA. To the right, the lake in El Parque del Retiro, Madrid. The last photo I took at home and the first photo I took in Spain, together in one picture.
As you can see in the frame on the right, light leaks sometimes show up in lomography photographs - an unwanted surprise to some or an unexpected quirk to others. Either way you look at it, I love the overall lighting.
